I spent an inordinate amount of time researching beach hats. I wanted to protect my son and daughter from the hot rays on our vacation, and hoped the hats could double for summertime strolls in the Mississippi heat. And oh, I needed quick delivery —so, there I was on Amazon. Bottom line up front: This was a durable, functional, face-protecting beach hat for my 4 and 2-year-old children during our fun filled week in the sun. Neither child got sunburnt. The brim is sturdy and wide to shade the face, even when it gets wet, and the hats are made of a quick dry, ultra light material. A flap protects the back of the neck from exposure. They clean easy. With a shake, the sand fell off. The small chin-strap clips fasten on the side. The cinch cord did not break thus far. We used Prime Try Before You Buy to get the correct sizing. The Amazon options were confusing between “Child” and “Small”, etc. I prefer solids instead of prints, but liked the pink camo. The grey was handsome. There is an adjustable strap on the back that can tighten the hat around your child’s noggin, and it stayed tight for hours of playing in the sand and ocean. For my four year old boy, I purchased Sunday Afternoons Unisex-Child Kids' Ultra Adventure Hat, Pumice, “Medium” ($31.85), and for my two-year-old girl I kept the Sunday Afternoons Kids' Play Hat Pink Camo in Size “Child” ($25.00). Hope this review helps save you time.I purchased our first hat in 2018 when my daughter just turned one. Size M - it was pretty large on her at the time but I loved the adjustable head width and strap to stay on her head. Since then, I’ve bought two more for my boys. It’s the hat I always pack for them when we’re going to be out in the sun for hours. A size M will last your kiddo from baby to 5-6 yo. My daughter still has her original size M from 2018 and I imagine we’ll get her a new one by the time she’s 6 or 7. Well worth the investment.This hat is everything you need in a hat for your little one. It hugs my daughters head perfectly. We chose a size small and she will be 2 in November. Her head is on the bigger size but she still has plenty of room on the strap to loosen. I feel we would be able to get another summer out of this!I have two fair-skinned redhead kids who are very sensitive to the sun, and these Sunday Afternoon's hats are the best I've tried. I have four of them in different colors. I like the long brim in the back that provides coverage for the neck area--something that other hats can miss. The toggle-closure chin strap allows the hat to stay in place better than Velcro or a knot, and you can easily loosen it if needed. The mesh vents in the side allow ample air flow, so that my kids' hair isn't dripping with sweat when I take it off (again, something that was an issue with other brand hats, which are too stifling in the heat). Finally, the style is really cute! These hats are great for the beach, camping, hiking, or really any outdoor activity in the sun.I knocked off one star because on one of the hats I purchased, the chin strap cord frayed completely after one wear and detached, rendering it unusable. I assume this was a fluke, because the other three Sunday Afternoon hats I own have held up extremely well, after hours of outside play, exposure to elements, and repeated washes. I ended up returning the "lemon" and Amazon kindly sent a replacement; I expect the new one will be just as excellent quality as the others.I only buy this brand for kids! Very stable, strong the edge and cover the neck too! Also easy to dry!Worth it!!This is the 4th hat I bought for my kids in 5 years. So far the best quality. The only cons is that it fades in 2-3 years (see picture: both hats are the same color, 3 years apart). Otherwise very happy with protectionThis hat is exactly as described in the Amazon. It is protective from the sun, fits the child’s head well with the adjustment strap. My child wore this in windy, sandy and wet conditions and the hat repelled the water; stayed on with the chin strap and the sand easily wiped off. I bought this for both of my kids and they both love their Sunday Afternoons Girl’s hats. Great product!Great hat! We have taken this to the beach, pool, park, camp and it stays on! I ordered a medium (2-5yrs) my Sons head circumference is 45cm, it is slightly loose even tightened to its smallest size, but that's perfect as he will obviously grow and can use it for some time. This summer has been a scorcher, and these have really come in handy. I purchased the L/youth for my 5 yr old, and the M/child for my 2 yr old. Both fit well with plenty of room to grow. The L size also fits my 2 year old when the strap at the back is tightened all the way, and I almost bought the L for her too, however I am glad I went with the M as she is sml for her age and the wider brim on the L looked a bit ungainly/uncomfortable for her. Only negative is that the strap under the chin and the clip on the side is a bit fiddly, and they certainly have trouble doing it up themselves. Not sure how long these clips will last with wear and tear over time.Still giving these 5 stars because they are great hats.Bought one for my daughter 2-3 years ago, we all loved it so much we had to get one for my boy once he was old enough. He loves this as well during the summer we use it everywhere when the sun is too strong, went in pool many many times i never saw any issues. Its not too heavy, can easily allow glasses to be worn is adjustable and they got many different looks. Been thrown around quite a bit and seems to be holding strong. Highly recommended for your little ones, i will keep buying these hats whenever needed.Excelente sombrero para el sol.
